The Ant and the Chrysalis
The Ant and the Chrysalis
a story from Aesop's Fables
One day, an Ant was walking in the forest, looking for food. He found a Chrysalis on the ground. The Ant didn't know what it was. Then the Chrysalis moved slightly, and the Ant realized the Chrysalis was alive. "Poor animal!" said the Ant. "I can run across the ground and climb the highest tree," he boasted, "I am free to do what I want, but you cannot move!" The Ant continued, "Poor, poor animal. I feel so sorry for you." The Chrysalis could hear what the Ant was saying, but he did not answer. A few days later, the Ant returned to see the Chrysalis again. However, he found only the shell of the Chrysalis. The Ant wondered what had happened. Suddenly, he felt something above him. He looked up and saw a beautiful Butterfly. "Look at me," said the Butterfly, "I'm not a Chrysalis anymore! Now tell me about your freedom - if you can catch me!" The Butterfly flew high into the air. The Ant never saw the Butterfly again. Put a checdk next to the moral that you think best explains the practical lesson of the story.
1. Don't judge people by how they look.
2. Don't boast about how great you are.
3. Don't feel sorry for other people. |
