How to Present Vocabulary

In the training session for DQ FH, I mentioned the way teachers can use to decide how they want to present the topic vocabulary of a unit. Below is the outline. The guideline can help teachers to design a clear and straight-forward teaching plan.
 
How to Present Vocabulary
 
1. How many words to present
  • the level of the learners
  • the learners' likely familiarity with the words
  • the difficulty of the items
  • their teachability
  • whether items are being learned for production or for recognition only
2. The sequence of presentation
  • meaning first, then form
  • form first, then meaning
3. The means of presentation
  • translation
  • real things
  • pictures
  • actions / gestures
  • definitions
  • situations
