Daqiao Training Report
The Second Step for the A-Thousand-Mile Journey
Changchun, China, Apr. 21st to 23rd, 2009 – Pearson Education China organized a three-day training for about 300 teachers from Daqiao Language School, who is to use our customization pub coursebook, Flying High. We had a three-day training in last December to prepare the teachers there in theory and practice for the new coursebook.
And this time, as the Level 1 books are to be launched in the coming June, we aimed to lead the teachers into the book, to have a concrete understanding of the philosophy behind the book, and to get familiar with the components and the unit format. Tony Lin, Assistant Sales Manager from Pearson Education China, and David Hui, General Manager from Daqiao Language School, co-presided the three-day training.
On the first day, Tony started the conference by giving a brief introduction of Pearson Longman and the training team, Ann Chan, Publishing Manager of China ELT, Maureen Nienaber, Commissioning Editor, James Ho, Editor, and Kitty Zhang, Trainer and Senior Marketing Executive from Pearson Education China. Ann Chan did a presentation on the product to familiarize teachers with their new coursebook. Then we began a real unit walk-through with teachers. First Kitty did her session on how to present topic vocabulary and target structure. Next, Maureen led teachers to the practice part by using songs, activities, games, and also introduced a lot of extra activity ideas that teachers are greatly interested in. James ended the first day's training by doing TPR activities and chants with teachers.
