Daqiao Training Report
|
On the second day, James first presented on teaching stories. And Kitty did the tasks in the book with teachers. The most special part came in the presentation on Phonics, which was actually a debate on whether students should learn Phonetics or Phonics. James was on Phonics and Ann on Phonetics, and Tony acted as the chairman. Teachers were positively involved in the debate and they voted for which way they agreed to use to teach their students. Can you guess the result? In the afternoon, James talked about how to teach Round-ups and Good to Knows and David shared with the teachers his understanding of all the assessment materials in Flying High. Then, Amanda, the head teacher trainer from Daqiao gave a real Phonics lesson to 12 students and other teachers observed the class. The feedback session of this real class was given by Maureen.
On the third day, teachers were divided into 8 groups, preparing for their show time. Kitty first showed a PPT of pictures of teachers in the first two days' training in an A to Z way, which inspired the teachers a lot as they saw how they had enjoyed themselves. James then assigned the different parts of a new unit to the 8 groups and each of the 4 trainers takes responsibility for 2 groups. The whole training climaxed on the final show time – demo lessons given by teachers. With the facilitation of the trainers, every group presented their demo lessons with excellent ideas absorbed from the presentations of the past two days.
Last December's training was the first significant step for a journey of a thousand miles. This time, we made the second step, and this was really a big one! |
